He designed this workout not as an ego-based vomit-level workout, but rather as an effective tool that firefighters, and others, can use easily on-shift and with minimal equipment. The cold hard fact is that in Seattle 30% of Firefighters are obese, and 40% of them have a dangerously low VO2max. Terrible aerobic fitness and obese. That is a scary proposition for a job which loses more Firefighters each year to health related issues than job related dangers. This workout is deceptively challenging for ALL levels of fitness, but is specifically aimed at getting people into, and staying, in decent shape. No, you will not win the CrossFit games by doing this video regularly, but you will get a workout that challenges your cardio-vascular, muscular endurance, and agility capacity. Plain and simple, Dr. Ross made this DVD to be an effective maintenance workout for most Fiirefighters and unfortunately it is a very, very challenging workout for a significant number of Firefighters already on the job.
